AGUILAR: Beyond Greatness traces the origin of Aguilar Clan from the settlement of
10 Bornean Datus to the Island of Panay. Under the leadership of Datu Puti - the great
ancestor of Aguilar Clan, the Barter of Panay was concluded. It also traces the roots of
Aguilar Clan during the Spanish rule. By word of mouth which has been handed down
from one generation to another, the descendants of Datu Puti on Panay Island were the
first to have received their Christian names as well as their family names.
Florentino, in the course of his early life was told by his great grandfather Datu Puti that
he had relatives in Panay, accompanied the missionaries to the Visayan islands.
He settled in Barrio Abaca, Passi � a well organized Malay community were he met
Constancia, the great granddaughter of Datu Bangkaya who settled in Aklan and Capiz.
He and Constancia were joined together in marriage by a Spanish priest. The first
Christian family or institution established on Panay Island was that of Florentino and
Constancia who out of their wedlock five children were born. Fray Juan Villamayor
christened them as Macario Aguilar Perfecto, Diosdado Panes Perfecto, Fermin Palmes
Perfecto and the two girls Leocardia and Azucena.
Macario Aguilar Perfecto, the eldest in the family is the duly recognized ancestor of
Aguilar Clan. Then and Now, Aguilar Clan has recorded the achievements of all of the
clan members and their remarkable contribution to our country and the world.
