About the Event

Bring out your most imaginary and creative skills to frame a story with the given plot.

We provide you the plot while you spin the wonders...

The Plots

a. Wake Up Desmond: Desmond is a twelve year old blind child staying in downtown California. He is born with a defect in both his eyes which has made him blind by birth. He undergoes a treatment at the age of ten which enables him to 'see the world'. But was this the same world that he had been expecting and dreaming to see his entire life?

Scene Starting Location: California

b. Izwi le Africa - Are the sunbeams dancing?: Subdued by poverty, political instability and crime and born out of a wedlock, Ahmale knew nothing other than working as a child labour in a nearby construction firm and securing daily meals for herself and her brother. Every morning Ahmale wakes up and recites her prayers and from the broken cracks of her roof, she sees the eagles flying high up in the air while the sun rays penetrate the cracks and kiss her face. She wonders what would it be to fly like an eagle and see the world from above? Is the Earth flat or is it a square? Do all people have the same life or is there really 'greener grass' on any other side?

Ahmale's hard work and eagerness to learn and grow during the course of her life gets her to a dignified position in a government corporation later in life. She understands the value of life and the difference between right and wrong. She fights for her country and fights for the rights of her society and shows the world that every one is born an eagle. It is only the way how one wishes to perceive his life and take it forward.

Scene Starting Location: South Africa | Izwi le Africa means Voice of Africa in Zulu

c. Ogo Bideshini - Welcome to my land: Born and brought up in London, Nandini returns to India to her grandparent's house in north Kolkata. While her father was a Bengali, her mother was a Brit and she had never been to India before. Her parents disconnected with her paternal grandparents at the time of her birth who longed to see their only grand daughter for years. A fatal accident in London causes the death of both her parents and as per legal norms Nandini, a fourteen year old needs to return to Kolkata to be brought under the custody of her grandparents.

Life takes a new turn in Kolkata when she discovers the rich culture and the rituals in a traditional Bengali family, not to mention the food, and listen to her grand mother's stories every night. She discovers a new world altogether with a stark contrast to the one she previously experienced in her past fourteen years in London with her parents hardly sparing any time for her. As she grows up to study her masters in Kolkata, gets a job, falls in love and settles there, she finds that there is something unusual and striking which keeps her bound to the soil of her origin.

Is it the love, warmth and the cosyness or is it the city itself, where every thing is coated with a bit of "extra sweetness"?

Scene Location: Starting from London with most of the story in Kolkata | Ogo Bideshini means O' Foreigner in Bengali
