Biren Sasmal,a well known short story writer,having 250 odd short stories in Bengali and a number of fictions to his credit,hails from Kolkata,West Bengal,India.He writes in English and Bengali both.Recently,a" Galpasangraha",an anthology of 43 short stories have been published by a publisher of repute.As a fiction writer he has also earned� a reputation.His fiction JALKAR"( a tax to be paid to Nature molested by humanity) has bagged Author of the Year Award from Ukiyoto Publishing House,Canada,Philippines India.His recent Anthology of short stories "GALPASANGRAHA" has also been awarded AUTHOR OF THE YEAR 2024 by a renownedInternational publisher, "UKIYOTO PUBLISHING".This anthology has also bagged several other prizes. He,as a journalist, has contributed number of articles to leading dailies,in English and Bengali both.He is presently working on research- based fiction "KOULINYA" and a fiction in English on Kashmir conundrum : "As Quiet Wails the Jhelum".�
He hails from Khardah a town adjacent to KOLKATA,WEST BENGAL,INDIA.
