Farhad, an ambitious young man and his wife Zenobia move into the sophisticated Malabar Hill area but their devoted old maid Savitri resists modernity repeatedly clashing with a neighbour Malti.
Farhad wants to chat up Malti's husband Sudhir, chairman of a bank who can help his business but a carefully planned social evening ends in bedlam as wives clash over Zenobia's beloved dog and Savitri's middle class ways. A budding friendship abruptly ends.
Till Farhad's cousin Rustom arrives from America bringing a welcome reconciliation.
