Writing on war with author Nguyen Trong Luan is like looking at the back of a medal. The work is full of lively details. But it doesn�t make us feel confused. Because its �red string� is very outstanding - fighting optimism, the joy of living, passionate affection for the homeland. At the last page of the novel �Hungry Forest�, all the hardship, hunger, and death seem to pass by. For me, only the victorious smiles of ordinary but great soldiers remained. That�s the success of the writer who wore the soldier�s uniform:
